A 15-year-old boy has tragically died after being found with stab wounds in Moss Side, Manchester. Police were called to Monton Street at approximately 4:30pm on 15 September 2025, following reports of a disturbance involving multiple individuals. Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenager injured and provided immediate treatment at the scene before he was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
In response to the incident, Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation. Chief Superintendent David Meeney from the City of Manchester district confirmed that a stop and search order has been implemented in the area, effective until 5:20pm on 16 September. This order allows officers to stop and search individuals in designated zones to enhance public safety.
Ch Supt Meeney expressed condolences to the victim's family and friends, stating, "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends after this tragic and upsetting incident. We have specially trained officers supporting them at this difficult time."
He further emphasised the commitment of the police to uncover the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. "There is a thorough investigation plan in place as we look to find the perpetrator of this appalling act that has seen a young man lose his life," he added.
The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Ch Supt Meeney noted, "This incident will understandably have caused shock and concern within the community and the surrounding area, particularly those who witnessed it."
