PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed an executive order Monday ordering the State Land Department to streamline and expand opportunities for energy infrastructure on state lands.
To keep up with the Grand Canyon State's growing demand for energy, Hobbs created a task force assigned to deliver a strategy plan for new opportunities to take advantage of emerging energy technologies like advanced nuclear generation and geothermal energy.
The executive order signed by Hobbs additionally calls for finding ways to "cut red tape" for leasing or selling state lands for the purpose of energy projects.
"The old way of doing things isn't working," the governor said Monday. "There are too many burdensome government regulations, outdated processes and unnecessary paperwork that stands in the way
