NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Mount Mitchell State Park reopened Monday for the first time since Hurricane Helene, coinciding with the reopening of the Blue Ridge Parkway between milepost 382 in Asheville and milepost 355.3, near the park entrance, according to park officials.

With the reopening, all North Carolina state parks are now at least partially open.

Trails: Most trails within Mount Mitchell State Park are open. One section of the Old Mitchell Trail, between the park office and its intersection with Camp Alice Trail, remains closed. Several connecting trails in Pisgah National Forest also remain closed. Visitors are advised to check the U.S. Forest Service website for the latest trail and facility updates.
