MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Tim Camp, a long-standing radio broadcasting legend in Mobile, has died.

A recent Facebook post from 92.1, The Zew radio station, announced that Camp died on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Camp, a founder of the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, was a part-owner of 92.1 The Zew, 92.5 The Soul of Mobile, 96.5 The Crab, and WNSP 105.5, the country’s first 24-hour FM sports station.

In addition to being a founder of Hangout, he is credited with contributing to the Ten Sixty Five Music Festival, a free event in Mobile in 2015.

Camp was passionate about music, bringing bands and artists to the Gulf Coast to share their work.

For his 65th birthday, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson gave Camp a key to the city. The occasion marked Camp's 50th year working in broadcast radio.
