NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer is proposing legislation that will provide cash compensation to airline customers for substantial delays and cancellations that are within the carriers’ control.
The Enhancing Transparency from Airlines Act (ETA Act) will require airlines to provide a minimum of $200 compensation for airline-caused delays of more than three hours. Maximum compensation of $500 would be awarded to families for delays of more than five hours.
“This means cash back in your wallets for the costs you bear and headaches caused by missed connections, paying for that extended parking, or meals, or having to book another airline or mode of transportation,” said Gottheimer.
