The Toronto Blue Jays‘ bold promotion is now official.
Starter Trey Yesavage has been called up to the MLB team, the Blue Jays announced on Monday.
In a corresponding move, left-handed reliever Ryan Borucki was designated for assignment.
Yesavage is set to make his debut later Monday when he starts against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 2024 first-round pick has dominated at four minor-league levels in his first professional season, striking out 160 opponents over just 98 innings.
The 22-year-old holds a 3.12 ERA across all minor-league levels on the season.
Borucki, 31, was caught in a numbers game with Yesavage needing a spot on the 40-man roster.
