Virginia State Police are accusing a West Virginia man of accidentally causing an alcohol-related fatal crash in Shenandoah County in April.

Roy Jesse Mongold, 44, of Fisher, has been charged in Shenandoah County General District Court with involuntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter while under the influence, driving under the influence of drugs, a first offense, and possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Police charged Mongold on Thursday, more than four months after the April 25 crash that killed 28-year-old Alysia M. Coffelt, of Strasburg.

Mongold is scheduled to appear in General District Court on Friday. A judge has appointed the public defender’s office to represent Mongold.
