When donors consider planned giving, a common question is whether there’s a cap on how much they can contribute. The short answer: no. There is no legal ceiling on the size of a planned gift, though tax rules, reporting requirements and personal financial circumstances can influence how gifts are structured.
“Planned giving is an opportunity for donors to think about how to make a lasting impact through gifts that are structured as part of financial or estate planning,” Meghan O’Bryan, vice president of development and foundation president at Cuyahoga Community College, said. “It’s really about helping donors connect their values with their philanthropy in a way that will live on long after they are gone.”
