SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Drought conditions are continuing in many areas of western Massachusetts, and it's not going away any time soon.

The drought monitor updates every Thursday. The northern and central Pioneer Valley is seeing dry to moderate drought conditions. Even though it's not showing for the southern Pioneer Valley, it's still drier than average.

"It's mainly Franklin County and northern Berkshire County that are being affected the most at the moment," said 22News Storm Team Meteorologist Chris Bouzakis. "We do expect by Thursday, when they do update the drought monitor again, it will likely show signs of more drought and the drought spreading a little more, because we really haven't had any rain.
