The University of Texas at Arlington says they've set a new record for enrollment, driven by its largest freshman class in history.

UTA said this year's freshman class of 5,100 first-time college students is an increase of 7.6% compared to last fall. The total enrollment is now 42,710, an annual increase of 2.6%, and is the largest in the school's 130-year history.

“A UTA degree has never been more valued or sought after by students from across Texas and beyond,” UTA President Jennifer Cowley said. “Students want to be Mavericks, and employers want to hire them.”
