Two people have tragically been killed following a horror crash on the notorious A9 road in the Highlands. ‌

Emergency crews rushed to the route between Inverness and Aviemore at Slochd at around 7.10am on Monday. A white Ford Fiesta car and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van had collided on the major route. ‌

The occupants of the car, a 45-year-old woman and 43-year-old man, were both pronounced dead at the scene. ‌

The two men inside the van were rushed to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment and later discharged.

The road was locked down until shortly after 2.45pm to allow for an investigation at the scene. ‌
