EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) -- In a world where competition frequently overshadows collaboration, one local student is proving that teamwork still makes the dream work.

Sophomore Drummer Garrett Cooper knows a thing or two about keeping a beat.

"I've been playing drums since I was about 7," Cooper said. "I've always had a beat in my head since I was like five years old."

But this weekend that skill was put to the ultimate test.

"He asked me, 'Hey, do you mind filling in for this snare? You'll be given the music,' and I was like, 'Sure. Why not.'"

Just hours before the Columbiana county band Showcase at Beaver Local High School, Wellsville's band director made a phone call: they were missing a drummer and needed someone to fill in.
