When Jordan Sucato was 12-years- old, she came home and told her mom that she was going to end cosmetic testing on animals.

“She was like, ‘Sure you are, you’re in the sixth grade,’” Sucato said.

But Sucato has proven underestimating her a bad idea.

She and Sen. John Kavanagh, R-Fountain Hills, introduced Senate Bill 1031, which would have made it illegal to sell cosmetics tested on animals in Arizona.

The bill passed the Senate but was held from a vote on the House floor by a single representative.

“Testing on cosmetics on animals is cruel,” Kavanagh said. “It’s painful and they often euthanize the animals when it’s over. There are alternatives.”

Not making it to the floor for a vote in the house was extremely frustrating for Sucato, but she and Kavanagh are going to reintroduce the
