A Boone Middle School student has been charged with threat of terrorism for bringing a toy gun painted to resemble an actual firearm to school.
Boone Superintendent Julie Trepa said students reported a weapon at the middle school the morning of Monday, Sept. 15. Police were called to investigate, and the object was determined to be an airsoft-style gun that had been altered to look like a real gun, according to a Boone Police Department news release .
The juvenile male was released to his parents. Authorities did not provide the student's age or grade level.
