Kobe Bufkin will be reunited with his former Michigan coach.

Bufkin was traded from the Atlanta Hawks to the Brooklyn Nets for cash considerations on Monday according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Bufkin, a guard who played for Grand Rapids Christian High School before suiting up for the Wolverines for two seasons, was the No. 15 pick in the 2023 NBA draft. He is due $5.4 million this coming season and has a team option for $6.9 million for 2026-27. Per Charania, the deal “opens roster flexibility for the Hawks…while providing the 21-year-old guard a fresh opportunity in Brooklyn.”

His NBA career has been limited by injuries: a finger, a toe, and a season-ending shoulder surgery in December. He’s appeared in 27 games over two seasons, averaging 11.9 minutes per game and shooting 37 percent
