EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- A teen was shot in the leg during a police-involved shooting in East Harlem, according to officials.

They say police responded to shots fired at 221 E. 123rd St.

When officers arrived, they discovered an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy firing shots toward each other.

An officer fired a round of shots, officials say.

Officials say the 15-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.

It is unclear if the officer struck the 15-year-old or if the 18-year-old struck the teen and is still under investigation, police said.

The 18-year-old and another individual were taken into custody, police said.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.
