FRISCO, Texas – Brian Schottenheimer's first win as an NFL head coach was a roller coaster of a game, but his Cowboys ended up coming out on the winning end 40-37 over the New York Giants to improve to 1-1 on the season.
While it was good to come away with the victory instead of dropping to 0-2, Schottenheimer saw a lot of room for improvement when he and his coaching staff went back to watch the film from Sunday afternoon.
"I told the guys, 'This is called coaching. It's not criticism,'" Schottenheimer said. "Overall, we need to start faster. To differ, we wanted the defense to go out there and set the tempo. It ended up being 18 plays later, they did a hell of a job, they kept them to a field goal."
