A Columbia man was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Monday for a deadly May 2024 shooting .
Cordero Riley, 18, pleaded guilty in July to unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree assault for firing a gun in a commotion on Rice Road near Boyd Lane. Riley will serve 15 years for unlawful use of a weapon and three years for second-degree assault.
The shooting resulted in the shooting death of Trevon Ashcraft, 18, according to previous KOMU 8 reporting .
Riley's guilty plea in July was to reduced charges for the incident, which happened when he was 17. Riley initially faced charges of felony murder, first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, according to court documents.
