SALT LAKE CITY – After suffering a leg injury in week three against the Wyoming Cowboys, Utah safety Rabbit Evans underwent successful surgery on Monday.
At the week four press conference, head coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed that Evans would miss the rest of the season.
“Losing Rabbit is a big loss, he’s a terrific player, and it will be for the season, I can confirm that,” Whittingham said. “The silver lining would be that he will get a redshirt year and be able to come back.”
Evans played his first year with the Utes in 2024. Playing in 11 games with five starts, he posted 34 tackles, two tackles for loss, one quarterback hurry, and a pass breakup.
Whttingham said that Evans will get a redshirt year and can return in 2026 if that’s what he chooses to do.
