ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - The St. Joseph County Police Department exhumed the body of a homicide victim on Monday morning in hopes of bringing justice to a 40-year-old cold case.

On June 9, 1985, a family was walking their dog behind the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge near Cleveland Road and State Road 933 when they found a badly decomposed body of a man.

Law enforcement ruled his death a homicide, saying he died from a gunshot wound.

Forty years later, police still don’t know who the victim is or who killed him.
