BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) -- With autumn just a couple weeks away, you may be thinking planting season is over.
However, there are some hardy varieties of produce that will see you through the colder months.
Beth Villers, Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator for the West Virginia State University Extension, said turnips, beets, radishes, spinach, and kale are all crops that will withstand colder temperatures.
"So, those are more the things, they'll grow underneath the soil and stay warmer because they're growing underneath the soil. Then those leafy greens like kale and spinach are heartier than some of your lettuces. So, it can be easier to last the winter with those types of varieties," said Villers.
Villers said you can also extend your planting and growing seasons by utilizing some
