FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — With Northwest Arkansas continuing to grow, Ozark Regional Transit has seen an increase in people using its services.

The area's public transportation system has experienced its largest increase in riders this year. To keep up with the increase, it's expanding its services to meet higher demand.

"We redesigned some of our routes that were longer, and we made them shorter. We took one long route and divided it into several shorter routes with connections," Jeff Hatley with Ozark Regional Transit said.

Hatley says those changes include adding more than 20 new shuttles and building more shelters at bus stops across the region. He says the increase in demand is due to growth in population, especially in Bentonville, which has quadrupled in ridership since 20
