WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Trump administration has made a request to Congress for an additional $58 million to bolster funding for the US Marshals and Supreme Court security.

The request comes in the wake of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk by a gunman. The administration has noted an increase in threats against public officials as a key reason for the additional funding.

If Congress approves, the increased funding would be allocated through September 2027.

The move highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of public officials amid rising threats.
