LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A violent weekend in Louisville left five people shot, three dead and still no arrests.

UofL Health workers say the numbers are alarming, and the pain is personal. City leaders are now trying to turn that pain into prevention.

“It is definitely concerning,” said Kiara James with UofL Health.

It’s a concern the UofL community health worker team has carried all year.

“We’re in September now, and we have seen 285 patients come in,” James said.

That’s compared to the 269 victims the team saw in all of 2024.

“We did a study to see how many times one comes in throughout the week, and just about every day was pretty much trauma-filled,” James said.

This weekend alone, five people were shot, with three lives lost, and zero arrests.
