Super Retail Group CEO and group managing director Anthony Heraghty has been sacked with immediate effect following new information about an alleged romantic relationship he had in the workplace.

The board of Super Retail - which boasts in its portfolio some of Australia's most recognisable brands such as Rebel Sport, BCF and Supercheap Auto - informed shareholders this morning that Heraghty's employment had been terminated.

In the notice to shareholders, the board said it had received "new information" regarding the nature of Heraghty's relationship with the group's former chief human resources officer Jane Kelly.

"In light of this new information, the Board has concluded Mr Heraghty's prior disclosures were not satisfactory," the statement reads.
