Villages hit-and-run with child aboard under investigation

Maricopa police and fire crews responded this afternoon to a reported hit-and-run crash near Edison Road and Butterfield Parkway.

The driver of a black sedan involved in the collision sustained only minor vehicle damage and drove a short distance home before contacting police.

A child who had been riding in the vehicle was evaluated at the residence in the 44100 block of Roth Road in The Villages at Rancho El Dorado, said Maricopa’s police and fire spokesperson, Monica Williams. An ambulance was at the scene but left unloaded.

Williams said the evaluation was precautionary.

The crash was reported just before 4 p.m. Williams said the incident remains under investigation as police pursue leads provided by the 911 caller.
