NEW ORLEANS — With New Orleans’ top job up for grabs, almost a dozen people are hoping to land it.

“The pressure is on all the candidates,” said WWL Louisiana political analyst Clancy DuBos.

To get there, they must go through the voters. The front-runners, Helena Moreno, Oliver Thomas, and Royce Duplessis, will face off Tuesday night in .

“The debates can always make or break a candidate. If a candidate makes a horrible mistake or is caught, someone throws something at them that they can’t defend, it can change things,” said DuBos.

DuBos says the televised debate isn’t just a way to reach a large audience of voters; it’s a chance to get more votes, even from those who may have already made up their minds.
