A Turlock Irrigation District employee drowned at Lake Don Pedro while on duty, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say 62-year-old Mitchell Rogers was attempting to swim a rope to a drifting boat when witnesses saw him go underwater and not resurface. After a two-hour search, his body was recovered. Turlock Irrigation District said it is deeply saddened by the loss and is cooperating with investigators.
