The sheriff's office said Roger went under the water while swimming a rope out to a drifting boat, but did not resurface

At around 11:37 a.m., deputies responded to Lake Don Pedro in the area of Moccasin Point for reports of drowning. When crews arrived at the scene, a witness was contacted who told the deputies the location where Rogers was seen.

Boating Unit deputies started a search of the area using a patrol vessel, TCSO said. After a couple of hours, Rogers' body was found underwater and members of the TCSO Dive Team recovered
