BEACON – Nine staff members at Fishkill Correctional Facility had to be taken to the hospital after they began displaying symptoms of a possible exposure to an unknown substance, state prison officials said. One officer had to be administered one dose of Narcan.
It happened around 5 p.m. on Monday after five prisoners appeared to be intoxicated in their dorm and were not following staff direction.
Officials of the State Department of Corrections and Community Service said correction officers and other security staff went to address the situation and began displaying symptoms of a possible exposure to an unknown substance.
The five prisoners were all examined by medical staff and remained in the facility, officials said.
