CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Tonight was the 12th annual telethon for the Salvation Army in Charlottesville. Viewers called in during the broadcast, helping them reach $125,740 by the end of the hour.
“I remember the first telethon when we went over 100,000. I said, 'Oh boy,' and of course at that point you need more because the need keeps growing, and that's the heartbreaking part is we need to keep working on putting out this fire of homelessness, helplessness and need in this area,” said Joe Thomas from Salvation Army.
