The Ksi Lisims LNG project in northwestern B.C. has been given an environmental green light.
Environment Minister of Tamara Davidson and Energy Minister Adrian Dix announced Monday that the project, involving two floating LNG plants off Pearse Island, had received an environmental assessment certificate.
Ksi Lisims is being developed in a partnership between Nisga’a Nation, Rockies LNG Limited Partnership and Western LNG. It would have a capacity of 12 million tonnes of LNG a year that will be primarily shipped to markets in Asia.
A network of organizations that oppose Ksi Lisims were quick to point out that Western LNG is based in Texas and the project will enrich U.S. owners while harming the Canadian environment.
