CINCINNATI, Ohio — Sunday’s matchup between the Bengals and the Vikings in Minneapolis could be shaping up to be a battle featuring backup quarterbacks.
While the Bengals are dealing with the immediate fallout of Joe Burrow’s injury, Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters on Monday that they don’t anticipate having starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy available for that game.
McCarthy suffered an ankle sprain in the Vikings’ 22-6 loss on Sunday night to the Falcons. Despite suffering the injury in the second half, McCarthy got his ankle taped up and finished the game.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported that McCarthy is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with his high ankle sprain.
