FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — A woman is on the run, accused of stabbing her grandmother to death and wounding another family member in Fort Washington on Sunday night . Police are asking for the public's help to find the woman and bring her to justice.

Homicide detectives are searching for 28-year-old Breante Thomas of Waldorf. Police have charged Thomas with murdering her 81-year-old grandmother, Helen Thomas, inside her home.

On Sunday, just before 2 p.m., officers were called for a welfare check at Helen Thomas's home in the 500 block of Bonhill Drive. Helen Thomas was found inside, stabbed multiple times. She died at the scene. Investigators believe Breante Thomas also stabbed a second family member. The man, who police have not identified, was hospitalized in critical condition.
