WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - While most people have voiced shock and anger over Charlie Kirk’s death, some have taken to social media to voice their disagreement with Kirk’s conservative opinions, and in some cases, to celebrate his death.
Many people voicing these thoughts have been fired or placed on leave. But the question remains: where does this fall in regard to free speech laws?
“In a free country, we have to recognize that each of us is free to say whatever we want, as long as it does not constitute a clear and present danger,” said Dan Monnat.
Monnat is a criminal defense attorney here in Wichita. He says we should work to uphold free speech laws, but he also cautions people that employers have their own rights.
