ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Nolichucky Outdoor Recreation Association (NORA) hosted a community event in Erwin on Monday that educated area residents on the best ways to restore their land on the Nolichucky River after Hurricane Helene's destruction.

The event brought different agency representatives together to discuss restoration efforts, including the Tennessee Department of Forestry, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The event focused on residential riparian restoration--restoring areas of land and vegetation directly adjacent to a water body, in this case, the Nolichucky.
