ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — This week's Educator of the Week has spent nearly her entire career at East Side Elementary.

The 5th-grade class at East Side Elementary is filled with a flurry of activity. Christy Malone is at the center of it all, as she has been for the last 20 years. "I try to make the kids interested in what we're doing and try to create an environment where everybody feels like they can just have a good time," Malone said. In addition to her 17 years as a 5th-grade teacher, she has also taught 3rd grade. No matter the class, Malone's excitement for teaching shines through.
