(KRON) -- Nine people were caught "gambling in public view" at City Park in Vallejo last week, the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) announced Monday. VPD officers spotted nine individuals engaging in illegal gambling in the presence of children and families at the park around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Officers arrived at the park and detained the nine people. According to VPD, one of the men was seen "discarding an object into the grass," which was later revealed to be a gun. Police recovered dice and cash linked to gambling activity.
