CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - The West Texas A&M Buffs’ football team officially picked up their first win Saturday after defeating the Western New Mexico Mustangs, 58-27.

WT went into halftime up 42-7, scoring six touchdowns in just the first two quarters.

Buffs’ quarterback, RJ Martinez, had a stellar showing, finishing the game with 388 passing yards and five passing touchdowns with no interceptions.

On Monday, he was awarded the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week accolade for his performance that led his team to victory.

WT head football coach, Josh Lynn, says he believes this offense is improving each week and will continue to shine as they prepare for the coming weeks.
