Shaler (5-2-1, 2-2) has won five games this year, but the Titans have often clawed back to earn those victories. That wasn’t the case in Monday night’s Class 3A Section 1 upset of Hampton (4-3, 2-2), at home, 4-2.
“For the first time all season we came out hot,” coach Bill Ament said. “We were tentative for a while. Naudia Zotter got a goal two or three minutes in. We didn’t look back from there. They were just on fire.”
Shaler saw four different players find the back of the net. In addition to Zotter, who also added two assists, the Titans earned tallies from sophomore Etta Warner, junior Addy Paladin and junior Gabby Alcalde. Ament gave praise to Alcade, who took a hard foul in the first half, but returned to the game, earned a penalty and converted from the spot.
