BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Friends and family say they’re feeling frustrated that another year has gone by and they still don’t know who shot and killed Rodriguez Powell and Justin Taylor.

The two cousins were shot and killed while sitting in a car in the 4200 block of Inglenook street in 2022 .

“I have my days, and it be bittersweet sometimes, and sometimes I have to rock myself to sleep,” says Theta Johnson, the mother of Powell and aunt of Taylor.

Johnson was joined by other friends and family Monday, Sept. 15 for a vigil in the spot the two were killed. This year’s vigil is especially bittersweet for Johnson, she planned it on her birthday.
