SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane City Council passed a vote Monday night to extend the interim zoning ordinance for building height limits downtown.
Originally approved in March, the ordinance removed height restrictions for buildings downtown while specifying limits for other city zones.

The ordinance was initially set to expire on September 24, but with this recent vote, the extension will last another six months, until March 24, 2026.
During this extended period, the Planning and Economic Development Department will continue studying the potential impacts of permanent changes to the height regulations.
Council member Jonathan Bingle commented on the ordinance after it passed, emphasizing the im
