Plymouth Argyle's Vertu Trophy group stage game against Tottenham Hotspur under-21st at Home Park next Tuesday will not be of much significance to many people.

The competition for League One and League Two clubs, as well as invited under-21s sides from the Premier League elite, has always struggled to attract interest from fans, certainly until the latter stages when the prospect of a place in a showpiece final at Wembley comes into sight.
