West Midlands Fire Service At High Rise Fire Scene

A blaze which ripped through a 16-storey building in Birmingham city centre has been ruled as accidental, fire investigators say.

Fifty firefighters battled the blaze at the disused office tower in Colmore Circus Queensway from around 5pm yesterday, September 15.

Smoke was seen billowing from the top floor of the building, located opposite Birmingham Snow Hill station , and across the city's skyline.

A significant section of Colmore Row was cordoned off by police and the fire service.

The blaze was extinguished by 6.30pm and no injuries were reported.

Bus and trams were disrupted in the local area but have since returned to normal services
