HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) -- Tuesday is the deadline for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to turn over body camera footage in the Jabari Peoples' case to the court following a Rule 27 petition to preserve evidence in the case.

As ordered by Circuit Judge Elisabeth French, ALEA is required to turn over "an exact version of the body-worn camera videos provided to the District Attorney's Office for an in camera inspection" by September 16. Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr ruled the fatal shooting of Jabari Peoples by Homewood police in June as justified based on the footage and other evidence reviewed.
