The Saginaw Spirit claimed a bit of preseason momentum Sunday, capping the exhibition season with a win over Sault Ste. Marie.

The Spirit scored five goals in the third period to upend the Soo, 8-5, to finish the preseason with a 1-5 record.

Saginaw opens the 2025-26 OHL season on the road, visiting Sault St. Marie for a Friday matchup before returning to the Dow Event Center for the home opener at 7 p.m. Saturday against rival Flint.

The Spirit will have a new look in 2025-26, with their star players in NHL camps. Michael Misa is with the San Jose Sharks and Zayne Parekh is skating with the Calgary Flames.
