Two major airlines, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, have announced stringent rules for hand luggage, prohibiting the use of power banks onboard. This follows in the footsteps of several other airlines, including Emirates, which have imposed similar restrictions.

The ban will prevent passengers from using their power banks onboard or charging them via the at-seat ports. Although the banks can still be carried into the cabin, they are not permitted to be used and must remain in clear sight.

This prohibition comes amidst growing concerns over the safety of lithium batteries during flights.

Just last week, the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) issued an updated warning after reporting 50 incidents involving power banks.
