Paul Mescal is making rare comments about his romance with pop star Gracie Abrams.

The "History of Sound" star, 29, told Rolling Stone he was unsure how to explain why he and Abrams decided to go public with their relationship after being together more than a year.

"I don’t know how to answer that,” said Mescal. “I actually do have an answer, but everything to do with that is deeply precious to me and I don’t want to.… This isn’t … I don’t really … umm … I want to protect those things fundamentally.”
