PROVO — A 71-year-old man who allegedly told officers he shot political activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University — when, in fact, he did not — was booked into jail Monday.
George Zinn, of Salt Lake City, was arrested almost immediately after Kirk was hit with a single bullet Wednesday during a speaking event at UVU. However, according to a probable cause affidavit, Zinn was taken to the hospital due to a “medical condition” where he remained until Monday.
After his release from the hospital, Zinn was booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony, according to UVU Police Detective Michael Dutson.
