LOUISVILLE, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We are learning more about the timeline related to an ongoing GBi investigation involving a Jefferson County deputy.

The GBI confirmed Monday that the inquiry involving Deputy Zachary Chalker is related to a rape case.

The sheriff’s office tells News 12 that a complaint was filed against Chalker on Aug. 11, just before midnight.

The complaint concerned an incident that occurred while Chalker was off duty on Aug. 9, and the complaint was forwarded to the GBI office in Thomson on the morning of Aug.12 to be investigated.

The sheriff’s office tells us Chalker was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the district attorney’s office for review.
